New York State Police Troop L, which covers Long Island, did not have any “significant incidents” to report Friday evening, according to spokeswoman Trooper Brittany Burton.

“The public is urged to avoid any unnecessary travel,” Burton said in a text message to Newsday. “State troopers are assisting disabled motorists and responding to crashes.”
