Babylon Village’s municipal pool might have sustained more than $1 million in Sandy-caused damage, trustee Tony Davida said during Tuesday night’s board meeting.
“We took a really bad hit,” he said. While he said he was determined to reopen the pool next summer, “There are major concerns about money and how much we can get done.”
Portions of the pool deck and railing will have to be replaced, he said. Roofs, pipes and pump equipment might also have been damaged.
FEMA might pay for some of the repairs, Davida said. In a work session before the board meeting, he said flood insurance might not cover the damages.
“The village is going to end up paying a percentage of something,” he said.
