Residents and landlords in Babylon Village will pay more to the Building Department, after the Board of Trustees approved higher fees.

The board raised five of its building department fees at its meeting Tuesday night, noting that they were outdated and not in line with neighboring villages, such as Lindenhurst.

- The cost of an original certificate of occupancy and a letter of prior existing use were each raised from $50 to $75.

- Uncertified copies of all certificates of occupancy in a resident’s file previously cost 25 cents per page, but the cost will now be $25 for a copy of the complete file.

- Verification of a certificate of occupancy, previously free, will now cost $25.

- A violation search, also previously free, will now cost $25.
