Babylon Village Christmas celebration brings road closure

The Old Fashioned Village Christmas celebration in Babylon Village on Dec. 6 will close Deer Park Avenue to automobile traffic from Montauk Highway north to James Street.

The event, from 5 to 9 p.m., brings hundreds of visitors for music, food and evening shopping.

Mayor Ralph Scordino said the street closure is a first. “Over the years, the popularity of the Old Fashioned Night of shopping has become scary,” he said. “This is mainly for the safety of children and people with carriages.”
