Bachety leads Sayville girls in 'A' outbracket
Brenna Bachety scored 13 of her 20 points in the first half for host Sayville in a 63-46 win over Amityville Tuesday in a Suffolk Class A outbracket girls basketball game.
Kristin Chandler added 14 points, five steals and seven rebounds for Sayville (12-7). The Golden Flashes went 20-for-25 from the free-throw line. Sayville will play at top-seeded Kings Park in a first-round game at 6 p.m. Friday.
Shoreham-Wading River 45, Comsewogue 36: Caitlin Condron had 13 points and five steals and Samantha Villafranca 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals for No. 6 Shoreham-Wading River (15-4) in a Suffolk Class A outbracket game. Michelle Rubino had 13 points for No. 11 Comsewogue (9-10). SWR will play at No. 3 Harborfields at 6 p.m. Friday.Eastport-South Manor 53, Huntington 40: Alex Marshall led No. 7 ESM (12-7) with 20 points and Chelsea Kull added eight assists. Stony Brook 51, Pierson 28: Sadie Singer had 13 of her 16 points in a 22-3 first quarter to lead Stony Brook (18-1). Brannon Burke had seven points and eight rebounds and Emily Carmel 10 points for Stony Brook, which will take on Southold in the final at 1 p.m. Friday at Center Moriches.
Southold 37, Mercy 29: Catherine Bosco had nine points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two blocks to lead No. 2 Southold (10-8) in a Class C semifinal. Aly Dey added nine points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals and Sarah Hallock had nine points and six assists. Amy Boden scored 13 points for No. 3 Mercy.Nassau Class A Quarterfinals
Garden City 70, Roslyn 42: Junior Barbara Sullivan had 23 points, nine rebounds and a career-high eight assists and Diana Leondis scored 27 points for No. 2 Garden City (16-3). Sullivan, Leondis and Kim Ryan (13 points) each hit four three-pointers for Garden City, which advances to the semifinals Tuesday against No. 3 Lynbrook at 7 p.m. at Freeport.Lynbrook 50, Elmont 34: Brooke Gerstman scored 16 points and Shannon Doody added nine points and seven rebounds for No. 3 Lynbrook (14-5).
