Stephen Drew homered during a five-run third inning and made a pair of big defensive plays to back Jarrod Parker as the host Oakland Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, Saturday night. Chris Carter had a two-run double for Oakland, which has won two straight over Baltimore, the top two teams in the American League wild-card race.

The A's pulled within two games of first-place Texas in the AL West. Baltimore dropped one game behind the Yankees in the AL East.

White Sox 5, Twins 3: Francisco Liriano took a no-hitter into the seventh against the team that traded him July 28. Paul Konerko homered and drove in three runs for visiting Chicago.

Tigers 5, Indians 3: Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the seventh as visiting Detroit stayed a game behind Chicago in the AL Central.

Royals 3, Angels 2: Los Angeles starter Zack Greinke was relieved with one on, one out and a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth. Closer Ernesto Frieri then gave up a tying two-run homer by Billy Butler and a walk-off homer by Salvador Perez.

Mariners 8, Rangers 6: Justin Smoak homered in the eighth and drove in a run in the ninth for visiting Seattle.

Red Sox 3, Blue Jays 2: Pedro Ciriaco drove in the tiebreaking run with a two-out double in the ninth for visiting Boston, which moved percentage points out of the AL East cellar.

Dodgers 4, Cardinals 3: Luis Cruz doubled home the tying run in the ninth for host Los Angeles and Juan Rivera followed with a walk-off infield single. The Dodgers are tied with St. Louis for the second wild card in the NL.

Giants 3, Diamondbacks 2: Buster Posey had a two-run homer in the fifth for visiting San Francisco. Barry Zito (12-8) allowed one run and six hits in 62/3 innings for the Giants, who have won four straight and 22 of 32.

Braves 5, Nationals 4: Andrelton Simmons was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth to drive in what proved to be the winning run for host Atlanta. Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman homered for the Braves. Craig Kimbrel earned his 36th save in 39 tries.

Astros 5, Phillies 0: Dallas Keuchel pitched five-hit ball into the sixth inning as host Houston avoided its 100th loss.

Marlins 6, Reds 4: Carlos Lee homered and drove in three runs for host Miami. Johnny Cueto (17-9) gave up six runs in 41/3 innings for Cincinnati.

Pirates 7, Cubs 6: Andrew McCutchen homered and reached base four times as visiting Pittsburgh snapped a seven-game losing streak.
