A former basketball superstar will be playing on Long Island . . . playing baseball, that is.

Tracy McGrady, a seven-time NBA All-Star who played briefly for the Knicks, will be the starting pitcher for the Sugar Land Skeeters when they take on the Ducks at 1:05 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader at Bethpage Ballpark.

The 35-year-old righthander, who played baseball in high school, made the Skeeters' Opening Day roster in April.

"To be a part of the team means everything to me and it's a dream come true," McGrady said in a statement at the time. "I look forward to coming to the ballpark not only to play the game, but to be in the clubhouse building camaraderie with these guys."

McGrady, who last played in the NBA during the 2012-2013 season with the San Antonio Spurs, will be making his fourth start of the season for the Skeeters. In 52/3 innings he has a 7.94 ERA and has yet to strike out a batter. His catcher has been Roger Clemens' son, Koby Clemens.

The Ducks will send Massapequa native Rob Whitenack to the mound.

McGrady entered the NBA straight out of high school in 1997. He averaged 19.6 points in his 16 regular seasons. The Knicks acquired McGrady as part of a three-team trade in February 2010 and he averaged 9.4 points in 24 games.

Ducks lose to Camden. Bryan Pounds hit a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh Friday night as Camden rallied to defeat the Ducks, 6-5. Pounds had five RBIs.
