Keep shooting.

That was Bayport-Blue Point's philosophy in Wednesday night's Suffolk Class C boys lacrosse championship game. But the Phantoms had little to show for their constant launches, and trailed Mount Sinai 3-1 at halftime despite a 16-6 advantage in shots.

Then those shots found their targets. Bayport-Blue Point, which finished with a 38-17 advantage in shots, scored seven goals in the second half and outlasted Mount Sinai, 8-7, to win the county championship at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium.

Josh Shaw's goal, on his 12th shot of the game, on a feed from Conor White with 4:11 left, proved to be the game-winner.

Three minutes earlier, Bayport-Blue Point's Mike DeBlasio had the goal of the game, a running no-look, over-the-shoulder beauty that broke a 6-6 tie. It was his third of the game.

Bayport-Blue Point scored three goals in 1:05 in the third quarter, two by Brian White, to take a 5-3 lead.

Chad Marino scored a hat trick for Mount Sinai and goalie Matt Poillon was outstanding with 15 saves.

The No. 1 seeded Phantoms are 11-5 and will play Cold Spring Harbor for the Long Island Class C championship Sunday at 3 p.m. at Stony Brook. The No. 3-seeded Mustangs finished 8-8.
