Bayside is ready for its next step.

After a string of well-received albums for Victory Records, the band, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in December, has signed with Wind-up Records and recorded its major-label debut, "Killing Time," due out in February.

"People have always told us that we're a band on the brink," singer Anthony Raneri says, calling from the band's practice space in Lindenhurst. "It's time to find out."

For Bayside, the process of recording "Killing Time" was unlike anything they've ever done. Usually on a tight schedule because of budget constraints, Bayside had the luxury this time to write and record the album at a more leisurely pace.

"It's the best thing I've ever been involved in," Raneri says. "It's the most ambitious thing we've ever done. A lot of bands in our situation would play it a little more safe. We decided to go further out on a limb."

Fans will get a taste of the new album on the upcoming "Out With the In Crowd" tour Bayside is co-headlining with longtime pals Senses Fail. The tour, which stops at Highline Ballroom Thursday, coincides with the release of Bayside's new single, "Sick, Sick, Sick," which makes sense in this YouTube age, where unreleased material doesn't stay secret for long.

Raneri says the band plans to build excitement for "Killing Time" through February with special releases, including a Christmas song and a continuous flow of information to fans.

"Everybody's here to win," Raneri says. "We just all share the same idea: Good music makes money. Good music - not gimmicks or photo shoots or advertising - wins. If the music is there, everything else falls into place."

Bayside plays Highline Ballroom, 431 W. 16th St., Manhattan, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $18 via TicketWeb, 866-468-7619, ticketweb.com.
