'Be My Baby'

WHAT The title "Be My Baby" is best known for the 1963 hit by The Ronettes. But it's also Ken Ludwig's 2005 farce about an unlikely pair approaching their senior years who find themselves instantly thrust into parental roles. Ludwig, best known for "Lend Me a Tenor" and the retitled Gershwin musical "Crazy for You," goes for domestic laughs in this Long Island premiere at Studio Theatre, which rejoined the BroadHollow Theater Company following Patricia and Jerry Zaback's retirement and Bob O'Neill's ascent to executive director. Directed by Marian Waller, "Be My Baby" stars Gordon and Rosemary Innes, husband and wife in real life, though their characters hate each other. And, yes, you'll hear The Ronettes' tune.
