I like everything about Long Beach: the beach, the West End, the downtown area and the Long Island Rail Road that makes Long Beach accessible to everyone.

What I do not like is the $12 beach-access fee the City of Long Beach charges our family, friends and visitors. These people make LB a happening. They are an important component for the restaurants, mom-and-pop stores, bars and everything that makes Long Beach work.

I am not saying not to charge for beach access, but how much is too much? I know the visitors help our tax base, but if they cannot afford to come to Long Beach, we lose revenue.

I recommend a lower rate for individuals and a special family rate.
