Beer recommendations for Super Bowl 2014

The Stupor Bowl is upon us.
Along with the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day, Super Bowl Sunday ranks high on any list of the top beer-drinking days of the year.
My primary advice: Moderation is a very good thing -- imbibe better instead of bigger.
You can keep with the pour of this year's game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos with brews from Washington state and Colorado. On the quantity front, Denver clearly has the edge. Enough beer is produced in the state to challenge the Rio Grande, Arkansas and Colorado rivers.
A lot of it is attributable to Coors, a deftly marketed brew that could turn me into a teetotaler.
If you're going with the Broncos and want an apropos beer to fuel the festivities, consider one or more from the Avery Brewing Co., Left Hand Brewing Co. and, if you can find them, Breckenridge Brewery and Boulder Beer. They're dependably good. And they'll be fine company if you're putting together a Denver-themed chowdown of beef, bison or cutthroat trout.
Seahawks fans should be searching for suds from the Elysian Brewing Co., Reuben's Brews, Pike Brewing Co. and Snoqualmie Brewery, each with distinctive and satisfying stuff. A Seattle-themed feast could include Pacific salmon, Olympia oysters, Dungeness crab, Walla Walla onions and, yes, salumi. After all, Armandino Batali's revered Salumi Artisan Cured Meats is in Seattle. Armandino is Mario Batali's father, and a master of cured meats.
They'll make you thirsty, too.
