THE BUDGET
The district is proposing a 2010-11 school budget of $30,802,649, 2.97 percent above the current $29,913,226. The proposed 2010-11 tax levy of $21,302,660 would be an increase of 3.96 percent over the current $20,490,246 tax levy.
School taxes paid on the average house assessed at $457,600 would be an estimated $4,072, a 3.61 percent increase over the current figure of $3,930.
The budget proposal includes an actual average increase in teacher salaries of 2.2 percent, plus step increases.
Two classroom teacher positions would be cut.
Also on the ballot: a proposition to reduce the number of school board members to five from six.

THE CANDIDATES
Maryanne Kelly and incumbent Janet Goller are running unopposed for seats with three-year terms. Incumbent Richard Narby is not seeking re-election.
