The Bellport Chamber of Commerce was awarded $10,000 toward its Discover Historic Bellport program from Suffolk County’s cultural and tourism fund.

Discover Historic Bellport is designed to bring business to the South Shore community.

As part of the program, the chamber is distributing maps of the village and its businesses at Long Island hotels and attractions. A public tour of the village is also planned, chamber officials have said.

The $10,000 grant will “help to bring shoppers and visitors to Main Street,” said County Legis. Kate Browning (WF-Shirley).

“Bellport Village has survived over a hundred years because of local support, and it is a testament to those shop owners that have succeeded in competing with big box stores,” said Browning, who presented the chamber with the money earlier this month.
