Bellport marks atomic bomb anniversary
The 66th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima will be observed Saturday in Bellport Village.
Participants in the South Country Peace Group’s World Peace Vigil will wear traditional Asian white mourning colors and participate in a silent, commemorative walk on the sidewalk outside the Woodland Cemetery on Station Road.
The 29th annual walk is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. and will proceed to Main Street and end at the gazebo on Bellport Lane.
A memorial program at the gazebo will include a homily delivered by the Rev. Tom Phillip of Brookhaven’s Old South Haven Presbyterian Church. For more information, call
