Bellport Village received its first installment of FEMA funds two weeks ago after Tropical Storm Irene hit its shores last August.
The village was allotted about $150,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for debris and destruction; $11,000 was disbursed in the first installment.
Coastal areas such as the Bellport marina — including bulkheads and a groin, a low seawall — experienced the most damage.
Mayor William Veitch said the village has asked for an additional $50,000 to cover money paid to the Town of Brookhaven to repair the marina area.
“We’ll just have to stay on top of them — be the squeaky wheel that gets it done,” Veitch said.
