Benefit aims to raise $300G for injured vet

All proceeds from the June 24 performance of “Broadway Salutes” at the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport will go toward renovating the home of a military veteran injured in Afghanistan.
Marine Lt. James Byler, who was born and raised in Huntington, lost both legs and two fingers in October when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan while leading his platoon. He is rehabilitating at the Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Md.
The June 24 benefit, hosted by Building Homes for Huntington Heroes, aims to raise $300,000 for the renovation of Byler’s Huntington Station home.
According to theater officials, the event will feature five Broadway performers who will celebrate some of their memorable musical moments and share behind-the-scenes anecdotes.
