Bethel AME Church to give out backpacks
A Copiague church will give out backpacks filled with school supplies on Sunday.
The backpack giveaway will take place at noon, following the Bethel A.M.E. Church’s service, “Church Without Walls,” at 10 a.m.
The church is inviting students, parents, teachers and principals to the event. There will be hot dogs and hamburger.
Bethel A.M.E., at 20 Simmons St., is the oldest African-American church on Long Island. It was formed in North Amityville in 1815 but relocated to Copiague in 1965 after a fire.
For more information on the event, contact Anita Rickenbacker at 631-703-6136.
