Bethpage community gathers to honor Howie Vogts
"It was awesome being able to step on the field, knowing you are playing for a legend," Kevin Glueckert, former football player, remembered at Howie Vogts memorial service on Thursday. Mourners packed the bleachers at Howie Vogts Field in Bethpage to honor a man who had given them so much in his 56 years as the high school's only varsity football coach. "Not one person has a bad thing to say about him. He's touched a lot of people's hearts," assistant football coach of Bethpage High School, Erwin Dill, told the crowds.
Vogts received a standing ovation and many shared memories on the day of his rememberance. To see more from his fans and family, watch here . . .
