Former President Bill Clinton will receive an honorary doctorate from Westchester Community College and speak at a fundraiser at the Valhalla campus on May 18, the college announced Thursday.
Clinton last visited the college in 2005 for a conversation with college foundation board member and former "PBS NewsHour" executive producer Lester Crystal. The event drew hundreds of attendees, according to college spokesman Patrick Hennessey.
In May, Clinton will be awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters and then speak on national and world events, with Crystal again moderating the event.
"We're very excited about the president's return trip to the college," Hennessey said. "This will be a historic event for our institution and will enable members of the community, and our students, to hear his perspective on national and world events."
The Clintons bought a home in Chappaqua in 1999 before Hillary Rodham Clinton ran for -- and won -- a U.S. Senate seat representing New York. According to reports, Hillary Rodham Clinton has returned to that residence after stepping down as secretary of state earlier this year.
The Westchester Community College event will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Physical Education Building at 75 Grasslands Rd. in Valhalla. Tickets range from $150 to $600, with proceeds benefiting student scholarships, mentoring programs, faculty development and other essential services.
