Billy Joel opening a motorcycle shop in Oyster Bay
Billy Joel is planning on opening his own motorcycle shop in Oyster Bay, according to ContactMusic.com. The Piano Man is apparently set to launch 20th Century Cycles, which will sell custom-made bikes and accessories and serve as a hangout for other cycling enthusiasts.
Joel put part of his collection of motorcycles on display last year in Sag Harbor as part of an exhibition, "Billy Joel's Motorcycle as Art and Icon." Among those motorcycles were some that Joel had designed himself.
"The motorcycles that I've designed are essentially new bikes that I've made look like old bikes. They're kind of retro-styled . . . I've become used to all the conveniences of modern technology, but I still like how the old things look. I do the same thing with the boats . . . I probably do the same thing with music," he told Newsday. Joel will get to see how he likes his music redesigned Tuesday, when the cast of "Glee" takes on his classic "Only the Good Die Young."
