The Melville Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals will hold its annual scavenger-hunt fundraiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Sept. 24.

Previously formed teams will meet at 300 Long Island Bowling Center in Melville at 9:30 a.m. to hunt through businesses on Route 110 from Amityville to Huntington, where they will receive challenges and trivia questions that will earn them points.

Each team in the hunt will have already earned points -- one for every $500 raised up to $2,500, and then two points per $500 after $2,500.

Arlene Dayboch, senior director of development for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, said last year's event netted $26,000 for the foundation. This year’s goal is $50,000.

“It’s a fun adventure that is appropriate for all ages,” she said. “But it has really appealed to that age group of young professionals.”

Registration is still open at www.thehuntli.info. The participation fee is $75, which includes a T-shirt, all activities throughout the hunt and meals.

The hunt concludes back at 300 Long Island Bowling Center at 4:30 p.m. with pizza, beer and wine. Points will be tallied and winners will be announced at the party.

The top individual fundraiser will win round-trip tickets on American Airlines to anywhere within the continental U.S., and the top team will win a 20-person suite for a Long Island Ducks game.

The second- and third-place teams will also win prizes that will be announced at the event.
