Lyle Overbay had the go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning, Brett Cecil won for the first time in four starts and host Toronto handed Tampa Bay its third straight loss, 2-1, Friday night.

Cecil (9-5) gave up one run and four hits in seven innings, walked two and struck out nine, one shy of his career high. The lefthander won for just the second time in nine outings.

Toronto won despite failing to hit a home run for the first time in 14 home games. The Blue Jays have lost eight of 13 home games against the Rays, dating to last season.

Angels 4, Tigers 2

Jered Weaver (11-7) gave up one run and struck out nine over seven innings for the visiting Angels.

Torii Hunter, who homered in the first, was ejected in the eighth for arguing a called strike. Hunter was called out on strikes by umpire Ron Kulpa and began arguing vehemently. Hunter went to the dugout after being ejected, then threw a ball bag on the field and manager Mike Scioscia was then tossed.

Cardinals 7, Marlins 0

Adam Wainwright pitched a two-hitter for his 16th victory, Albert Pujols homered and visiting St. Louis rolled. Wainwright (16-6) struck out seven and walked three en route to his fifth complete game and second shutout this season. He threw 110 pitches and lowered his ERA to 2.07. With the two-hitter, Wainwright matched his career best. The All-Star righthander also threw one June 4 to shut out Milwaukee.

Pujols hit a three-run homer in the first inning, his fifth homer in six games and 28th this season. He also doubled home a run in the fourth.

Reds 3, Cubs 0

Bronson Arroyo (12-6) threw five-hit ball over seven innings as visiting Cincinnati moved 14 games over .500 for the first time in 11 years. Ryan Hanigan added a two-run homer. Arroyo held the Cubs scoreless for the second time this season. He is 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA in his past six starts against them.

Glavine's number retired

The Atlanta Braves honored Tom Glavine by retiring his uniform number before their game against the Giants, which was delayed more than an hour by rain. Glavine's No. 47 was placed beside former teammate Greg Maddux's No. 31 on the Turner Field facade in leftfield.

Bonds trial set for March

Slugger Barry Bonds will stand trial on federal perjury charges in March. Bonds' legal team, federal prosecutors and U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston agreed during a brief hearing Friday to begin the trial March 21. They also hashed out a schedule to file legal documents and to hold pretrial hearings to shape what the jury will see and hear during the three-week trial. - AP
