Division I quarterfinal wrapup
- Sachem North’s Joshua Thomas is proving that seeding means nothing. The No. 13 seed at 144 pound will face top-seeded Ryan Munn (Carthage) in the semifinals. Thomas upended No. 12 Marco Provenzano (Fairport) with a 16-0 technical fall in 2:14 in the quarterfinals.
- Massapequa’s James Mulhern came through when he needed it most. Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the No. 3 seed scored a takedown to defeat No. 6 Ryan Fleischmann (Central Square), 4-1, in sudden victory. Mulhern will face No. 2 William Wortkoetter (St. Francis) in the 285-pound semifinals.
Division II quarterfinal wrapup
- Top-seeded Andrew Dolson of Shoreham-Wading River will face No. 4 Drew Telesky (Sherburne-Earlville) in the semifinals after picking winning two close decisions on Friday. He is joined in the semifinals by his teammate Gavin Mangano, a two-time state champion and Penn State commit. Mangano will face No. 4 Evan Sheils of Lansing in the 144-pound semifinals.
- Center Moriches’ Justin D’Arce secured a spot on the podium for the first time in his career. The No. 4 seed defeated No. 12 Jayden Acomb (Ravena/Coeymans/Selkirk) by 14-8 decision in the 138-pound quarterfinals. He will face top-seeded Landyn Shaffer (Deposit/Hancock) Saturday morning.
