The Town of Babylon is holding a special town board meeting Thursday to vote on selecting a master developer for downtown Wyandanch.

The 4 p.m. meeting at Town Hall in Lindenhurst is being held solely to discuss choosing a company to act as master developer for Wyandanch Rising, the town’s $500-million project that includes transit-oriented development around the Long Island Rail Road station and a variety of housing types, commercial properties and public green spaces.

In April, the town announced it had narrowed the list of potential developers to three companies: Jonathan Rose Cos. of Manhattan, Albanese Organization Inc. of Garden City, and Douglaston Development of Douglaston.

Only Jonathan Rose Cos. and Albanese Organization Inc. submitted proposals, town spokesman Tim Ruggeri said.

If the town approves a developer Thursday, it will move forward with negotiations over costs and other details, Ruggeri said.
