Christopher Mullen compared the dock at the Babylon Village pool to a McDonald’s drive-through Thursday night.

The Babylon man was one of many pulling their boats out of the Great South Bay in anticipation of Hurricane Irene.

“Our neighbor said it might be 4-feet-high tide and it [the boat] is going to be in the middle of the street,” Mullen said.

While the pace was frantic, Mullen was impressed that everyone was being so cordial.

“Everybody’s helping everybody else out,” Mullen said, later adding, “It’s like a big community event.”
