Bono to perform on 'Idol'

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" hasn't exactly been the idol of Broadway these many months. But Bono, The Edge and star Reeve Carney have headed to L.A. to perform a song, "Rise Above," from the show on Wednesday's "American Idol" finale, reports Newsday's Linda Winer. This will be the first time the U2 composers have sung anything on TV from their long-delayed mega-musical, back from three weeks of rewrites and preparing to finally open June 14. Matthew James Thomas, who plays Spidey at matinees, will fill in for Carney Wednesday.
