Friends of the African American Museum and the African Atlantic Genealogical Society Inc. are bringing the ninth annual Harlem Book Fair on Long Island to Hempstead Village this year.

The opening reception and book signings will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum at 110 North Franklin St. The fair continues tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Authors, booksellers and merchandise vendors will set up along Jackson Street between North Franklin and Main streets. Musicians, dancers and poets will perform, and authors will present excerpts of their work. Inside the museum, there will be panel discussions, lectures and workshops.

Among the participants: Cheryl Wills, anchor reporter for NY1 News and author of “Die Free;" Lauren Raysor, also known as the Lifestyle Guru, author of “Living a Wealthy Life;” Muriel Harris Weinstein, author of “When Louis Armstrong Taught Me Scat” and “Play, Louis, Play!”
