'Boots to Suits' helping vets get jobs in Central Islip
A free program to help veterans and military employees move into civilian jobs will be offered in Central Islip.
The event, titled “Boots to Suits,” is being held Sept. 14 at Touro Law School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program — which is open to all veterans, National Guard members, reservists and those working in the military — was organized by the Suffolk County division of the New York State chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
Presenters at the event include Vietnam veteran James Mullin, who is the retired director of the undergraduate social work program at Adelphi University, and Michelle Cavaleri, clinical director of South Shore Counseling and Meditation Center in Bellport and Brookhaven hamlet. Topics include using military experience as an employment asset.
Attendees are asked to bring a current resume.
