A runner from Florida may have captured a higher-resolution photo of one of the Boston Marathon suspects on his iPhone. David Green of Jacksonville, Fla., told CNN he took the picture and posted it to his Facebook page on Monday. CNN broadcast the photo Thursday night as Piers Morgan interviewed Green.
The image shows marathon spectators fleeing shortly after the bombs exploded. Green, who had finished the race, said he snapped one photo and then went to the bombing scene to see if he could help.
Green said he didn't know he had possibly captured an image of one of the bomb suspects until a friend alerted him. The friend had seen the photographs and video released Thursday by the FBI showing the two men just before the bombings.
Green's photo appears to have captured the suspect who was wearing a white baseball cap on backward, identified as "Suspect 2." In the FBI photos, taken before the explosions, both suspects are wearing backpacks. In Green's photo, the suspect in the white hat is leaving the chaotic bomb scene. He is not wearing a backpack.
Green told CNN he first gave the photo to the FBI on Monday and contacted them again after he discovered the possible link.
