Getting to breast cancer support meetings can be difficult physically for some women with breast cancer — some meeting places can be too far away, driving in winter months often is hazardous and sometimes women are just not feeling well enough to go out.

So the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program is offering a weekly telephone support group that will allow women to speak with other breast cancer survivors and a social work facilitator via conference call.

The group will connect weekly for eight Mondays from noon to 1:30 p.m., beginning on Jan. 23, organizers said.

“We are offering this during the day so that working women can also participate during their lunch break,” group coordinator Sandi Kafenbaum said in a statement.

For more information and to register for the telephone group, call Kafenbaum at 516-877-4314.

The breast cancer program, established in 1980, provides information and support to breast cancer patients, their families and friends.

For more information, call the hotline at 800-877-8077 or visit adelphi.edu/nysbreastcancer.
