Three of the four travel lanes of the westbound Southern State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead are scheduled to be closed overnight, weather dependent, to allow bridge work, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Three lanes between Corona Avenue (Exit 15) and Fletcher Avenue (Exit 14) are to be closed Tuesday from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to a DOT release.

Motorists can use alternative routes, such as Sunrise Highway (Route 27), or plan for delays, the DOT said.

Workers will be installing/removing scaffolding at three bridges as part of the department’s bridge parapet wall replacement project.
