The Bridgehampton Fire District is holding a bond vote tonight that, if passed, would allow the district to purchase the property adjacent to its firehouse for $3.9 million.

Once purchased, the property now owned by Pulver Gas would continue to be leased by the company for two years. During that time, the fire district would draw up plans for a firehouse expansion, officials said.

“We have just outgrown the space,” said Charles Buttler, the district secretary.

The vote is from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the firehouse on School Street.
