Police: Johnson arrested
for head-butting wife
Police say Dolphins receiver Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco) has been arrested on a domestic violence charge, accused of head-butting his newlywed wife during an argument in front of their home in Davie, Fla.
Davie police Capt. Dale Engle said Johnson's wife, Evelyn Lozada, from the reality show "Basketball Wives," confronted Johnson about a receipt she had found for a box of condoms. Lozada was treated at a hospital for a forehead cut.
Engle said Johnson is in Broward County Jail until he can appear before a judge, possibly not until Monday.
Panthers extend Stewart
The Carolina Panthers have reached a five-year contract extension with running back Jonathan Stewart. ESPN reported that the deal is for $36.5 million, $22.5 million of it guaranteed.
Edwards tops field at Glen
Carl Edwards, making his first NASCAR Nationwide series start of the season, beat Brad Keselowski on a two-lap dash to the checkered flag at Watkins Glen International for his 38th career victory. Danica Patrick, making her first series start at Watkins Glen, was taken out on the first turn of the race by Ryan Truex and finished last.
