Indiana remains No. 1

Indiana, which lost to Illinois on a last-second basket Thursday, rebounded with a win at then-No. 10 Ohio State on Sunday to remain ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press men's college basketball poll released Monday. Six of the top 10 teams lost last week. Duke, the only member of the top five not to lose, moved up two spots to second. Miami jumped from eighth to No. 3, the Hurricanes' highest ranking ever. Michigan dropped one spot to fourth and Gonzaga moved up one spot to fifth. Syracuse was sixth, followed by Florida, Michigan State, Arizona and Kansas State.

Hoyas move into tie for second in Big East

Otto Porter scored 21 points for host No. 15 Georgetown (18-4, 8-3), which tied No. 18 Marquette (17-6, 8-3) for second in the Big East standings with a 63-55 win . . . Jeff Withey scored 17 for No. 14 Kansas (20-4, 8-3 Big 12) in an 83-62 win over No. 10 Kansas State (19-5, 8-3).

Stony Brook opener canceled

The Stony Brook men's lacrosse home opener against Fairfield, originally scheduled for this past Saturday and rescheduled for each of the last two days because of snow, has been canceled. The Seawolves now are scheduled to play their first game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Marist.

Celtics' winning streak ends at seven games

Byron Mullens had 25 points and 18 rebounds as host Charlotte defeated Boston, 94-91, to snap the Celtics' seven-game winning streak . . . North Babylon's Danny Green scored 18 as shorthanded San Antonio beat host Chicago, 103-89 . . . Chris Paul had 21 points and 11 assists as the Los Angeles Clippers dunked their way to a 107-90 win in Philadelphia.-- AP
