Brooke Gerstman returned Friday after missing three games with a sprained right ankle and scored 23 of her 27 points in 28-15 first half of a 56-42 win for Lynbrook over Lawrence. The Lynbrook junior guard is second in scoring on Long Island with 21.1 points per game entering Saturday.

Lynbrook lost two of three without Gerstman as the team (8-4, 5-2 Conference A-II) pushes for a better seed. Gerstman is handing the ball more this season and has become much better at creating her own shot.

One of the bright spots while Gerstman was out was the play of freshman Jen Fay, who scored 23, 22, and 21 points in those games. Junior point guard Shannon Baker also returned Friday after missing almost two weeks with a sprained ankle and she scored seven points.
