INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- With Bud Selig already planning to add more instant replay for next season, another change currently being discussed for 2013 at the GM meetings is limiting roster expansion for September.

As it stands now, teams are permitted to call up any number of players from their 40-man roster starting on Sept. 1. Many have complained that it ruins the integrity of the 162-game season, by playing the final month or so under different rules. Not to mention the countless pitching changes that stretch out the length of games, something the commissioner's office always is worried about.

"I feel we're going to get there eventually," said Joe Torre, MLB's executive vice president of baseball operations. As for next year, Torre added, "We're looking at it. The sooner, the better. I don't think anybody is objecting to it."
