Budkevics, Bonin lead C.W. Post baseball win

Pete Budkevics pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in nine innings for C.W. Post (10-7-1, 9-2) in a 2-0 win over Bridgeport Thursday in ECC baseball. Bryan Bonin hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to give Post a one-run lead. Nick Compito drove in the second run in the bottom of the seventh. Bridgeport is 6-8, 5-5.SOFTBALL

Adelphi 8, Dominican 2: Heather Salerno broke a tie at 2 in the top of the eighth inning with an RBI single and Shay Craig hit a grand slam to make it 8-2 for Adelphi (8-7) in Game 1 of a non-conference doubleheader at Queens College. Craig was 3-for-4. In the nightcap, Delaney Childers allowed three hits and struck out five for Dominican (13-9) in a 6-0 win. Leighann Bell went 62/3 innings and allowed one earned run for Adelphi (8-8).C.W. Post 7, Merrimack 2: Rogin Hardy was 2-for-4 with a two-run double and Kendall Bright 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run for Post in Game 1 of a non-conference doubleheader. In Game 2, Christina Berardi allowed three hits and one walk in seven innings and Melissa Medina was 4-for-4 with two for Post (18-6) in a 6-0 victory. Merrimack is 4-9.Dowling sweeps. Felicia Mendoza threw four out of five innings and had seven strikeouts and Kristen Weeks was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs as Dowling downed Mercy, 16-1, in the first game of an ECC doubleheader. In a 6-1 win in Game 2, Jessie Stavola struck out 18 in a complete game for Dowling (2-0).NYIT takes two. Brooklyn Fields was 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBIs for NYIT in a 6-4 win against St. Thomas Aquinas in Game 1 of an ECC doubleheader. Fields had a home run for NYIT (2-0) in a 5-4 win in Game 2.St. Joseph's (L.I.) wins big. Alyssa Sieber was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs as St. Joseph's won, 18-3, in Game 1 of a non-conference doubleheader against Lehman. Sarah Merritt was 4-for-4 with three doubles and five RBIs and Lauren Guzzardi allowed just three hits in five innings for St. Joseph's (9-6) in a 10-2 Game 2 win. Lehman is 2-8.
