Builders get to work for Mount Sinai family
A group of local contractors and builders will hold a news conference today at noon to talk about the home they are building for a Mount Sinai family that has fallen on hard times.
The family of six, in which the father who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and can no longer work, was a finalist for an episode of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” When the family was passed over for the show, the contractors formed a nonprofit organization called Building for Hope and agreed to do the work anyway.
Town of Brookhaven and Suffolk County officials will be at the news conference to honor the builders.
More to come.
