An executive at Islandia-based CA Inc. has been named president-elect of a nonprofit international professional association, the company said Tuesday.
Galina Datskovsky, an engineer and senior vice president of CA's architecture division, has been named president-elect of ARMA International, an information professional group.
"It's an honor to serve and contribute even further to ARMA -- an organization that has helped define an entire industry," Datskovsky said in a news release.
She will become president-elect for a year starting July 1, then will become president for a one-year term starting July 1, 2011.
"I look forward to participating in the growth of ARMA as it helps guide the future of the records and information management industry," she said.
Formed in 1955, it is considered the oldest and largest association for the records and information management profession with a current international membership of more than 10,000.
Datskovsky, who has a doctorate in engineering and is a member of the Institute of Certified Records Managers, has published academic articles and is a frequent conference speaker.
She was founder and chief executive of MDY, which CA bought in 2006, and is one of the creators of MDY FileSurf, a software product now known as CA Records Manager.
Datskovsky consults with and oversees technology operations for clients in the Fortune 100, legal, medical, government and civil-service arenas.
Before joining CA, Datskovsky consulted for IBM and Bell Labs and taught graduate business courses at Fordham and Columbia universities. She has a doctorate and master's in computer science from Columbia University.
