Software maker CA Technologies plans to lay off another 600 employees as part of its effort to streamline its sales force and focus more aggressively on innovation, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The filing, with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, did not indicate whether the layoffs would impact employees at CA's headquarters in Islandia. A CA spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The cuts are in addition to 1,200 layoffs that CA chief executive Mike Gregoire announced in May. The moves are part of a broad reorganization to shift the aging tech giant's focus toward cloud-based computing and other cutting-edge programs outside of the company's traditional mainframe software business.
