Calandra gets key hit for Floral Park

Eighth-grader Mitch Calandra hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to break a tie at 4 as Floral Park (2-13) defeated Manhasset, 6-4, in Conference A-V baseball. Matt Phillips went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs and allowed three hits with three strikeouts in 32/3 innings of relief for Floral Park.

Farmingdale 5, Hicksville 4: Ian Kornfeld (2-for-3) singled to drive in Richie Sullivan in the third inning, giving Farmingdale (9-4) a 5-2 lead in Conference AA-I. Anthony Galanoudis pitched the seventh inning, allowing one unearned run and striking out the side to earn the save.

Plainview JFK 1, Baldwin 0: David Kosakavich's RBI single in the fifth inning drove home the game's only run to lead Plainview JFK (8-5) in Conference AA-II. Jake Faraci threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts and four walks.

Garden City 18, Wantagh 3: Senior James Cauchi went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and amassed his 100th career hit to lead Garden City (12-2-1) in Conference A-I. Brandon Samardich went 4-for-4 with five RBIs as the Trojans clinched their first conference title in five years.Uniondale 7, Elmont 1: Sophomore Aaron Weeks threw a complete game, giving up one hit and one earned and striking out 13 for Uniondale (14-2) in the Countywide league. Christian Fuentes went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs and Nadym Evans hit a two-run home run in the second inning.

Ward Melville 5, Commack 2: Sean Lyon and Nick Nunziato scored on a two-out error during a five-run bottom of the sixth to give Ward Melville (8-5) a 4-2 lead in League I. Tim Delaney's RBI single later in the inning made it 5-2.

Patchogue-Medford 3, Floyd 0: Matt Vogel tossed a shutout, allowing two hits and two walks with 14 strikeouts, and went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run double in the first inning, to help Patchogue-Medford (10-3) clinch a League I playoff spot.

Holy Trinity 2, St. Mary's 1:Alex Robinson took a no-hitter into the seventh but it was broken up by Joe Tracy's no-out double. Robinson struck out the next three and had 16 strikeouts to lead Holy Trinity (7-7) in CHSAA. Jack Parenti went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases.
