No, despite what Stephen Hawking might think, aliens did not descend on Calverton National Cemetery and wipe out all vegetation in sections 10 and 12.

Larry Williams, the cemetery’s assistant director, says the sections are undergoing renovation and have been treated with grass-killing Round-Up as the cemetery prepares to raise and level sunken headstones and resod the areas.

Section 10 has 14,274 graves; Section 12 has 9,691.

Williams said sections 11 and 13 may also get touch-ups.
