Backup goaltender Cam Talbot, who was 12-6-1 with a 1.64 GAA during the season, is sidelined with an undisclosed injury and is "day-to-day," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said.

Talbot, who did not practice yesterday, relieved Henrik Lundqvist in Game 5, playing 26:47 and allowing two goals on eight shots. The team did not confirm that he was injured in Game 5; he was on the bench for Game 6, when Lundqvist blanked the Canadiens 1-0.

David Leneveu, the third goaltender who has been traveling with the team, practiced and could back up Lundqvist in his playoff debut if Talbot isn't ready for Wednesday's Game 1.

Leneveu, 31, is an AHL veteran who attended Cornell and played in Austria last season. He signed with Hartford as a free agent on Jan. 14. He played 22 games and was 12-8, with three shutouts and a 2.46 GAA, and was an emergency backup for Talbot against Columbus on Jan. 21 at the Garden when Lundqvist was ill.

"It's been a crazy year," said Leneveu, who played 21 games for Phoenix in 2003-04 and 2005-06 and one for Columbus in 2010-11. "To come in here and enjoy the run with them has been unbelievable, a great experience."
