Campaign to recruit volunteer firefighters

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano Thursday announced the third annual RecruitNY program for volunteer firefighters and medical technicians.

“Over the last several years, it has been tough for many statewide fire departments to recruit and retain volunteers,” Mangano said in a statement. “Volunteer fire departments need to bolster their emergency responder numbers, so they can continue to provide the optimum level of protection for their residents.”

Mangano made his announcement at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and was joined by members of the State Firemen’s Association and several volunteer fire and emergency medical services.
