Catholic league roundup
It's Week 5 of baseball in the CHSAA and, with only three weeks left in the regular season, we're starting to get a clear picture of the who's who of the 2011 season.
In other words, someone emailed me stats and standings and I really, really want an excuse to post them.
First off, updated standings (as of 5/2)
St. Dominic 9-1 0.900*
St. Anthony's 7-3 0.700
Chaminade 6-3 0.667
Holy Trinity 6-4 0.600
Baptist 6-6 0.500
Kellenberg 3-10 0.231
St. Mary's 1-11 0.083
* The only abberation in St. Dominic's record was a 6-4 loss to Chaminade on April 15....Chaminade pitching has only allowed 19 runs in 10 games (the Flyers are 7-3 overall).
The story so far....(or players that make you go, 'hmmm').... St. Mary's Alex Falconi is hitting .512 for the best average in the league, followed by Holy Trinity standout Ricky Van Allen (.483)....Van Allen, SJB's Joe Longo and St. Anthony's Dave Groeneveld each have two home runs - no small feat in the wood bat league....St. Dominic's Nick Batas (4-1) leads the league in wins while teammate Spencer Bilello has racked up three saves for tops in the CHSAA....St. John the Baptist's Chris Gaffney has a league-high 11 RBIs and Holy Trinity speedster Jack Parenty has 12 stolen bases.
