Celebrity Mets fans just say 'No'

As the Wilpon family, owners of the New York Mets, look to sell a minority stake in the franchise, some of the Mets’ most high profile fans have made it clear that they are not interested.
Alec Baldwin, who narrated Billy Joel’s concert film “Last Play At Shea,” said he’s not signing a check unless time travel is involved.
"Alec would like to go back in time and buy the 1969 New York Mets,” said Matthew Hiltzik, a spokesman for the "30 Rock" star.
Jerry Seinfeld, an outspoken Mets fan who donned orange-and-blue gear to throw out the first pitch at a Yankees-Mets game at Shea Stadium in 2005, is also not interested, a spokesman for the comedian said.
When a Newsday reporter asked for a reason, spokesman Tom Keaney responded by e-mailing a “smiley face” picture.
Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, another Mets fan, also will not be purchasing the Flushing-based ball club, a spokeswoman said.
“I don’t believe there will be any purchasing of baseball franchises in the near future,” said spokeswoman Karen Samfilippo.
Spokesmen for other celebrity Mets fans - Chris Rock, Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel - declined to comment.
