Centenarian: Etelvina Duran Barreiro
Etelvina Duran Barreiro was born April 18, 1912, in Galicia, Spain. She is the oldest of seven children. She wed Alfonso Barreiro in 1933 in Spain, where their daughter Maria was born. Shortly after, they immigrated to Brazil and had three more children, Ruben, Joseph and Alba. They immigrated to America in 1946, settling in Brooklyn. Etelvina learned English at night school and was a seamstress making women's coats in Brooklyn. She has four grandchildren and loves to making Galician empanadas. She lives in Lake Ronkonkoma with her daughter Maria (Mary), where she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.
