Centenarian: Helen Leblanc
Helen Leblanc born Dec. 17, 1910, in Killaloe, Ontario, Canada, is the youngest of eight children born to John and Mary Mackey. After graduating from high school, Helen worked as a cosmetologist in Montreal. She met and married Albert Leblanc and lived in Detroit. After Albert was discharged from the Merchant Marine at the end of World War II, they moved to Rochester then to New Hyde Park where they raised three children. Helen was a homemaker and later worked in retail sales. Helen and Albert (now deceased) moved to Anaheim, Calif., in 1973 to be near their son. Helen enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling. At 100, after living in California for 37 years, she returned to Long Island to live with her oldest daughter. Helen has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
