JOHN E. (NED) MAHONEY was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich. He studied music at Ernest Williams School of Music in Brooklyn and at the Ithaca Conservatory of Music. He was a professional cornetist and played with the Goldman Band in Central and Prospect parks as a member of the cornet trio. He conducted the Kismet Temple Shrine Band and Freeport Fire Department Band. He ran a business, Ned Mahoney Music Ltd., providing lessons, sales and repairs of musical instruments to Long Island school districts until age 90. Ned enjoyed boating and traveling. He is married to Anne for 69 years and lives in Valley Stream. He had three children; Barbara, David (deceased) and Carol. He has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ned celebrated with family at home.
